Process Management & Business Automation Case Study

"rmsource succeeded where other vendors failed in delivering a system that exceeds our expectations."
Client: North Carolina State Bar
Duration: 2 Years
Summary: Prior to 2003, North Carolina State Bar personnel were managing member activity, history, Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses, attorney disbursements, client security funds and all other functions either by paper, excel spreadsheets or a legacy VAX database. Simple tasks required several personnel to gather information from disparate applications and place into a presentable format. This manual, time-consuming process routinely yielded inaccurate and antiquated information. Supporting nearly 30,000 members and implementing more than 300,000 transactions, the State Bar needed a more efficient, scalable way to manage its growing membership base.

rmsource’s consulting team started by interviewing each department to understand the basic business processes and flow of information. We then set out to research all available technologies and prepare recommendations for replacing the legacy system. Module by module, rmsource migrated the existing data from all application and database sources to one Microsoft SQL database. Our team developed a back-end application for internal desktop users and a web interface for State Bar members.

The result is a comprehensive business management solution that consolidates all membership activities and departmental functions. The customized solution provided by rmsource paid for itself in the first year through reduced overhead, reduced systems maintenance, increased operational efficiency, improved member service, and the recouping of lost revenues.
